Recent and Upcoming Airport Improvements
Beginning in 2010, the Norfolk Airport Authority began a multi-phase process to improve public areas of the airport terminals and concourses. Major elements of the renovation have included a large skylight and new furniture and plantings in the main Departures Lobby, an expanded security checkpoint on Concourse B, and new terrazzo flooring and carpeting throughout the Departures and Arrivals Terminals. In addition, a separate project focused on upgrades to the General Aviation Terminal which included a major renovation of the interior of the General Aviation Terminal building as well as an expansion of the facility’s public parking area.
New work underway will include an expansion of the security checkpoint on Concourse A, new restrooms on Concourses A and B, improved airline gate hold areas, and new wall treatments, skylights and lighting on both Concourses. Below are photos and renderings of completed and planned work.
