Virginia Beach, Virginia

There’s something about this place...a indigenous vibe

Fancy yourself a beach aficionado? We invite you to roam the adventurous shores of Virginia Beach. The same pioneering spirit that founded our nation defines our culture and invites us to “Live the Life.” It can be as simple as digging your toes in the sand or as rich as a boardwalk trek for delectable seafood and local cuisine. Wherever your path may lead, let a rich beach life be your guide.

Explore our East Coast beach shores or the Chesapeake Bay waterways to discover the true spirit of coastal living. It’s a secret formula that grabs you when you least expect it, so don't be surprised if you end up finding yourself along the way.

With mild year-round temperatures, the opportunities for outdoor adventure in Virginia Beach are virtually endless. Visitors can tee off on award-winning golf courses or charter a boat for a day of fishing. Embark on a dolphin adventure in the fall or whale watching adventure in the winter. Kayak through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge or take a hike through First Landing State Park, the most visited park in Virginia. More than 18,600 acres of state parks and wildlife refuges, over 121 navigable miles of waterways and 35 miles of ocean and bay beaches give visitors a variety of landscapes for exploring the great outdoors.

Dive in to the aquatic environment of the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, where visitors can explore more than 800,000 gallons of aquariums, 300 interactive exhibits and an IMAX theatre. The aquarium’s newest addition Restless Planet, features 12,000 sq. ft. of spectacular new habitats and exhibits; 110,000 gallons of aquariums; 6,000 new animals and 367 new species.

After the adventure, it’s time to spend lazy days luxuriating on sun-drenched beaches. Virginia Beach’s 3-mile boardwalk boasts a separate bike path, perfect for strolling, rollerblading, biking or just people watching.

As the sun sets, the stylish and chic all gather in Virginia Beach’s downtown area, Town Center, spanning 17 blocks of exciting retail, exclusive dining and nightlife. Enjoy the taste of coastal cuisine as you savor succulent seafood dishes, from steamed shrimp to oysters on the half shell. Delight in an evening performance at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, the city’s new cultural centerpiece featuring an outdoor performance plaza, grand lobby and a 1,300-seat intimate performance space.

With majestic wildlife, rejuvenating spas, adventurous sporting events, exciting festivals and new exhibits, the resort city has laid the groundwork to become one of the nations most sought after year-round meeting destinations. At the center of it all is the Virginia Beach Convention Center, the nation's first convention center to earn LEED® Gold certification for existing buildings from the U.S. Green Building Council. It can hold any size meeting imaginable, with over 525,125 gross sq. ft., over 150,000 sq. ft. of column-free exhibit space, nearly 29,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, over 31,000 sq. ft. ballroom (one of the largest on the east coast), and 2,209 free parking spaces.

The center is also certified Virginia Green, the Commonwealth’s campaign to promote environmentally-friendly practices in all aspects of the Virginia tourism and hospitality industry. The Virginia Green program also certified Virginia Beach as a green destination. To date, more than 60 Virginia Beach hospitality businesses are certified Virginia Green, including restaurants, hotels, events and attractions.
