Know Before You Go

  • TSA Advisory: The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has implemented new, stronger screening procedures for carry-on items at airports nationwide, including Norfolk International Airport, in an effort to raise the baseline of airport security. The new procedures require travelers to place all electronics larger than a mobile phone in bins for X-ray screening at checkpoints. TSA Officers will assist passengers with the new requirements.  There are no changes to what travelers can bring through the checkpoint; food and liquid items that comply with the 3-1-1 liquids rule, electronics, and books continue to be allowed in carry-on bags.

  • Airport terminals are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • Travelers are encouraged to contact their airline for ticket counter hours and required check-in times. Be sure to also allow extra time to complete the security screening process.  In general, the recommended arrival time at the airport is 2 hours prior to departure time for domestic flights; 3 hours for international flights.

  • Parking rates in long-term outdoor lots and garages are the same ($1 per half hour; $9 per day maximum). All parking facilities are security-patrolled and open 24/7. Cash, major debit and credit cards accepted. Lock out, battery jump and escort services are available. Garages are connected to the Terminals. All parking facilities at Norfolk International Airport contain disabled parking spaces which are located at the closest point to the main passenger terminal. Maximum vehicle height allowance in garages: Garage A 8' 2", Garages B and C 6' 7".
